# How do I protect my ATV or UTV wheel finish?
## Regular cleaning after rides, especially in mud or harsh conditions, is the best way to protect your ATV and UTV wheel finish and keep it looking sharp.
ATV and UTV wheels take a beating in the field -- mud, dirt, rocks, water, and debris all assault the finish on every ride. Here is how to keep them looking good:
**After every muddy or wet ride:** Rinse the wheels thoroughly to remove mud and debris before it dries and bonds to the finish. Dried mud can trap moisture against the wheel surface and accelerate corrosion.
**Regular cleaning:** Use a pH-neutral ATV/UTV cleaner -- harsh acid-based cleaners can damage powder coat, machined finishes, and painted surfaces. Soft brushes help clean between spokes without scratching.
**Protective coatings:** Wheel wax or sealant applied to a clean wheel creates a barrier against mud, dirt, and moisture that makes future cleanups much easier.
**Ceramic coating:** For riders who want maximum protection with minimal maintenance effort, ceramic coating is available as an add-on to wheel orders. It creates a semi-permanent hydrophobic layer that repels mud and dirt more effectively than standard finishes.
